The Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday issued contempt of court notice to FIA Director General Malik Iqbal for separating the investigation officer from the probe into Benazir Bhutto’s assassination. During the in-camera hearing conducted at Adiala Jail, ATC No 3 Judge Rana Nisar Ahmed Khan expressed displeasure over the transfer of Deputy Director Khalid Rasool, the investigation officer in the Benazir murder case.
The court also summoned FIA DG Malik Iqbal on the next hearing scheduled on May 30. During Saturday’s hearing, the court asked why the investigation officer had been changed at a time when he was about to submit the compliance report on the arrest warrant of former president Pervez Musharraf.
