Gujranwala Division Commissioner Saeed Iqbal Wahla has urged the teachers as well as parents to build the character of new generation so that the future of the country may be brightened. He said this while addressing the annual ceremony of Azam International School Alipur Chattha while Chairman Azam Ali Chaudhry, Principal Abdul Qadir, Assistant Commissioner General Asif Raza and Wazirabad Assistant Commissioner Shiraz Manzoor also spoke on the occasion.
The commissioner said the students must be given modern education and proper training so that they might become useful citizens in future. He added that all segments of the society should play their role in educating the youth.
ILYAS made GEOPCO CE: Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) General Manager Sheikh Muhammad Ilyas has been appointed as the chief executive of the company after the retirement of his predecessor Muhammad Ibrahim Majoka. Sheikh Muhammad Ilyas joined WAPDA in 1975 as sub divisional officer and served in Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala in various capacities.
After assuming the office, he intended to run the company on merit and determined to improve the services.
PROMOTIONS OF 65 SSTs, 42 ESTs okayed: The District Promotion Committee (DPC) approved the in-service promotion of 65 SST (Science) and 42 EST teachers in a meeting.
District Coordination Officer (DCO) Nabil Ahmad Awan chaired the meeting of the DPC that was attended by EDO Tariq Mahmood, Ghazanfar Ali Sani, DEO Muhammad Latif Faizi, Muhammad Arif Khokhar and Muhammad Yahya. The committee scrutinised the cases of male and female teachers and finalised in-service promotions of 107 teachers. It was also decided to finalise the promotions of PST to EST before 31st May.
13 FILING STATIONS SEIZED: Judicial Magistrate Syed Dildar Shah has seized 13 more filling stations in the district during sudden raids in Eimanabad, Wahndo, Mandiala Tegha and Ferozewala for using tampered machines.
The judicial magistrate was accompanied by police and officers of the Labour Department. The team had already seized more than hundred weighing machines at different filling stations during the recent campaign.
