Malaysia to help boost halal product exports

Punjab Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) and the Government of Malaysia have signed an MoU for the promotion of halal product projects, which will help Pakistan in boosting halal products exports.
Malaysian State Minister and Penang International Halal Hub Chairman Haji Abdul Malik Kassim, and PIEDMC Chairman S M Tanveer, inked the agreement on behalf of their respective countries. Speaking on the occasion, the Malaysian state minister claimed that the value of the trade of halal products in the international market had exceeded $3 trillion per annum and Pakistan would be a strong beneficiary if it gained a strong footing in the market.
He underlined that Pakistan is among the top five milk and livestock producing countries in the world. He urged Pakistani businessmen to come forward and avail this opportunity. PIEDMC Chairman S M Tanveer pointed that the dairy and livestock sectors currently performs well below its true potential.
However, he stressed that the government has made consistent efforts to make Punjab an industrial hub. He underscored that the Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate was being established under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif who had planned to set up a set of industrial estates across the Punjab.
PIE spokesman has also disclosed that the PIEDMC has allocated 100 acres of land in the upcoming Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate for the processing of halal products. He underscored that Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate would incorporate infrastructure complying with international standards.
