The University of Management Technology (UMT) Literary Society, ADAB held the annual mushaira Sham-e-Sukhan at the UMT campus on Wednesday. The event was organised by ADAB Coordinator Suhaib Ahmed Khuwaja and OPA team members Rana Iftikhar Ahmed and Hafiz Umair Iqbal.
Saud Usmani was the host of the mushaira presided over by Anwar Masood. Poets and poetesses including Naureen Talat Arooba from Islamabad, Masood Okarvi from Okara, Khursheed Rizvi, Amjad Islam Amjad, Khalid Shareef, Saud Usmani, Yasmeen Hameed, Dr Yusaf Shahid, Farrukh Zahra Gilani, Zahid Fakhri and Bushra Ijaaz from Lahore, UMT faculty members Dr Sajjad Shami and UMT student Atif Choudhary recited their poetry at the event where more than 800 guests including members of the corporate sector, UMT faculty, staff, students and alumni were present.
Before formal initiation of the event, students were given a chance to recite their poetry on stage. The guests were served with meethay paan and cold drinks. Male guests were given rosebuds while the female guests were presented with the gajray at the reception. Participants Services Director Rana Iftikhar Ahmed while delivering the closing note thanked the guests for attending the event.
