A healthy body is one important thing that requires full nourishment and care from your side. The first and foremost rule is to eat food with high nutrition value having fewer calories. The easiest way to follow a diet plan is based on traffic lights concept. Food is grouped into three categories based on their healthy values – Green: healthy food; Yellow: not so healthy; and Red: foods to avoid. Simply eat more of the green light food, be careful with yellow and avoid red light food as much as possible to get best results.
Red light food does not provide much nutrition and is the source of increased risk of diseases like heart attack, clogging of arteries, diabetes and hypertension. These foods should be taken only once in a while and should be avoided as much as possible. These include red meat, fried chicken, high fat dairy products (cream, cheese etc), cookies, pastries, French fries, carbonated drinks, butter, margarine and ghee.
Yellow light food can be a part of diet as long as they are limited in their consumption. They don’t provide as much nutritional values as green light foods can. These include white rice, white bread, starchy vegetables, lake potatoes and corns.
Green light foods are highly enriched in nutrients like vitamins, minerals, fibre, essential fats and are low in sugar and sodium. Sources of green light foods include fish, white meat, poultry, eggs, whole grain, vegetable, fruits, cereals, brown rice, nuts and olive oil.
So go for green light. By following this health enhancing concept you can achieve a healthy life with reduced risk of diseases.
