Corruption is a stinking and immoral term. Public corruption means misuse of powers, violation of legal norms and moral standards. Bribery, favouritism, misuse of authority, nepotism, breach of trust, denial of justice and deliberate official delays are some of the corrupt activities. Corruption is found in all forms of bureaucracy and other institutes.
The public attitude determines the extent of corruption. Public attitude in Pakistan is that of apathy. Public attitude is a sanction to official corruption. Increase in government functions has also added to public corruption. Parallel to economic development in the country, more powers were given to public servants. It also gave them opportunity to misuse powers, amass ill-gotten wealth and become rich.
It has already done great damage to the society and country’s economy.
