The establishment of community police centres in different sectors of Islamabad is an excellent development that will help bridge gaps between the community and police, besides keeping a close look at criminal and antisocial activities.
In Pakistan, police never enjoyed a healthy relationship with members of the community. However, this new development will help solve this issue.
The rationale behind community police centres is that lower level police officers would be given training to interact with people so that the communication gap can be bridged. For this matter, inspectors and sub-inspectors have been appointed as community police officers. Every centre of this kind would maintain beat and visitor books. By addressing problems at the grass root level, these centres will bring improvement in the overall societal structure.
