Plan afoot to revamp city transport system in Faisalabad

Divisional Commissioner Syed Tahir Hussain has said that Faisalabad Urban Transport Service (FUTS) will be reactivated into a true service provider as per public demand.He was addressing a meeting to discuss the administrative and financial issues to revamp the city transport. All the stakeholders involved in the development of transport infrastructure, including representatives from the FUTS, Regional Transport Authority (RTA), the city district government, tehsil municipal administrations (TMAs) and Faisalabad Development Authroity (FDA) attended the meeting. The commissioner urged the officials to construct waiting areas for passengers, parking lots and other facilities for the efficient running of the FUTS. District Coordination Officer (DCO) Nasim Sadiq told the commissioner that the city terminal at GTS Chowk would be transformed into a world class bus service terminal.He said the multi-million project that required two years for completion had already been included in the Big City Development Package of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and added that it would be a model terminal equipped with the most modern facilities. Traffic Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khurram Shahzad gave a presentation on the traffic management and challenges faced by the traffic police.
