Governor Magsi seeks inquiry into Chechen’s killing

Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi said that an inquiry be conducted into killing of five suspected Chechens including three women in firing incident, if they were not suicide bombers.
Replying to a question during media talk after his address on Fourth Academic Convocation at Sardar Bahadar Khan Women University here on Thursday, Governor Magsi said if the suspected Chechens were not suicide bombers and they had no explosives and weapons, then the government should conduct inquiry into their killing and judges of superior courts should take suo moto notice of the incident.
Answering another question, he said there were no information about the presence of Taliban in Quetta and any other parts of Balochistan. “The US forces would already have conducted operation, if Taliban were found in the provincial capital or any other part of the province”, Nawab Magsi said.
He said office of Governor had no more powers after passage of the 18th Amendment into the Constitution adding that Governor was not running the Balochistan government.
He said law and order was provincial subject and the Frontier Corps was working in the province to maintain law and order.
Rejecting news about efforts of dislodging the government of Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani, he said, “I am not part of any
type of efforts to remove the government of Nawab Raisani”.
He, however, said he had removed the provincial governments of two chief ministers in Balochistan including Mir Taj Jamali and Mir Akhtar Mengal.
He said the four-member committee constituted by the federal government to conduct dialogues with Baloch nationalists had not progressed.
He said maximum member of the Balochistan Assembly avoided sitting on opposition benches.
He said that at one hand there was talk of provincial autonomy and other hand, decisions in connection with provinces were made without consultation and will of the province.
He emphasized the need to equip women with higher education and employment. No millennium development goals could be achieved until providing all opportunities to female.
Vice Chancellor, SBK Women University Balochistan Mrs. Sultana Baloch said graduate of the varsity had been taking part in the development
of the county and province. She noted a large number of graduates from SBK University had been serving in various fields. She said about 510 graduates secured their degrees in today (Thursday) convocation, of them 17 gold medalists clinched Pin of Honor.
Balochistan Minister for Prosecution Ms. Rahila Durrani, PML-Q MPA Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Senior Journalist Syed Faseeh Iqbal, other dignitaries and a large number of students attended the ceremony.
