The Gujranwala police on Wednesday arrested three terrorists of banned organisations in Tatlay Aali police precinct, while an agent of Harkatul Mujahidin was also arrested from Lahore’s Qila Deedar Singh for recruiting teenagers for jihad. Gujranwala CPO called the arrests a major success, saying a disaster had been averted at the eleventh hour.
Per details, a team of Elite Police Force and other police personnel raided Jamiatul Banat on the Noshera Virkan Road on a tip off and after a brief gun battle all three suspects hiding in the premises were arrested. CPO Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said police had averted a major disaster which was to be carried out in the next 24 hours. He revealed that a new strategy of using pressure cookers as detonators was to be adopted, as police had recovered two pressure cookers along with explosive material and time devices.
Meanwhile, an agent of the banned Harkatul Mujahidin Qari Ziaullah Khan was arrested in Lahore under Section 21-C of ATA and was being interrogated. Police have also recovered two teenagers, Amir Shahzad and Muhammad Luqman, from a training camp in the Tribal Areas. Shahzad and Luqman had gone missing from Qila Deedar Singh some time ago.
