The Lahore High Court (LHC) was told on Wednesday that the missing families of Faizan and Faheem, who were killed by US national Raymond Davis, will be presented in court on May 23.
Justice Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa, who took oath on May 12, was hearing the case. During the hearing, the judge reprimanded Punjab Assistant Advocate General (AAG) Nayar Abbas Rizvi over an inordinate delay in recovery of the victims’ families who have been allegedly missing since March 16 when they pardoned Davis by accepting blood-money.
Earlier, the case was pending in court of Justice Mazhar Iqbal Sidhu who warned the Punjab government to recover the said families but all in vain. Justice Bajwa gave a last chance to present the families in court to find out that legal heirs of Faizan and Faheem are not in any trouble. Advocate Malik Munsif Awan filed a petition, through his counsel, Azhar Siddique, for knowing the whereabouts of the missing families.
The petitioner submitted that these families went missing since they pardoned Davis on March 16 after accepting blood money. Siddique said that both the federal and Punjab governments had failed to recover the missing families and were intentionally delaying court proceedings.
He pleaded that both families had gone missing after release of Davis in the double murder case. Munsif apprehended that somebody had kidnapped them and kept them in illegal detention. He submitted that according to the media, the families had a huge amount of Rs 200 million with them and their lives could be in danger.
