Run away wicket-keeper Zulqarnain Haider has a step towards his return to the national team by replying to the PCB’s explanation letter. Zulqarnain, who abandoned the team last year during the Pakistan and South Africa series in UAE and went to London seeking asylum, returned to Pakistan on the government’s assurances of protection and support.
Zulqarnain alleged that he was threatened by some unknown person to underperform and also alleged of some players’ involvement in match-fixing. The Pakistan Cricket Board on Tuesday confirmed the reply from Zulqarnain to the letter of explanation of PCB issued to him in December last year. The PCB has formed a three-member disciplinary committee in accordance with the PCB Conduct of Disciplinary Proceedings Policy 2007.
Sultan Rana, Director Domestic Cricket, has bee named as chairman of the committee while Col (R) Wasim Ahmed (Security Manager) and Kh. Mohammad Awais (manager estates) are its members. The committee will be assisted by Legal Advisor PCB Mr. Taffazul Rizvi. An official of the PCB said that the committee will start its proceedings as soon as all concerned persons are available in Pakistan which will be soon after the return of the Pakistan team players and officials from the tour of Ireland.
