National Assembly Opposition Leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan warned the government on Tuesday to abstain from feeding wrong information to the media just to score political points, or the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would unveil “the real facts” of the in-camera joint session of parliament held last Friday.
Nisar told a press conference that the PML-N had proposed seven names in a letter to Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for the constitution of an independent commission to investigate the May 2 Abbottabad operation by United States forces that killed al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden. He said parliament had given a guideline to the armed forces that any deal with the US would not be accepted at all until parliament was taken into confidence.
He said that the independent commission would not only establish responsibility, but also punish the elements behind the Abbottabad episode. He told reporters that the party would begin working on the independent commission today (Wednesday).
