The University of Karachi (KU) has cancelled admission of 18 students, who were enrolled in different departments of the university and its affiliated colleges, when their degrees proved to be fake during verification.
Well-placed sources in the KU Enrolment Section told Pakistan Today that the university had the educational degrees of these students verified.
They were admitted to various departments of the university and its affiliated colleges between January 1, 2011 and now.
“The university finally cancelled the admissions of those students, who have no educational record in the educational boards concerned,” they added.
They said that the Enrolment Section has detected irregularities in the educational records of some 18 students.
Among them, some students could not submit the required documents at the time of admission and they were told to complete formalities.
“The varsity granted admission to some students on provisional basis and directed them to submit an equivalence certificate of their submitted degrees, but they failed to do so,” they said.
The admission of the remaining students was cancelled due to their unverified degrees and non-provision of the required documents.
The students whose admission was cancelled due to unverified degrees and non-provision of documents are: Abdul Moiz Siddiqui, Muhammad Azeem Khan and Muhammad Danish Khan of the Department of Mass Communication, Sehrish Rizvi and Muhammad Feroze Alam Khan of the Department of English, Muhammad Fayaz-ud Din of the Department of Physics, Ammara Nisar Farooqui of the Department of Botany, Fawad Ahmed Khan of the Department of Economics, Junaid Iqbal of the Department of Business Administration and Amna Babar of the Department of Pharmacy.
The three female students and five male students studying in the university’s affiliated colleges whose admission was cancelled include: Syed Mehmood Saeed studying Bachelor of Law in SM Government Law College, Danial Nasim studying of BCom in the Government City College, Fatima Khalid studying BSc in the APWA Government College for Women, Nadia Naz studying BCom in the Government College for Women, Saeeda Bano studying MBBS in the Liaquat College of Medical and Dentistry, Saira Deedar studying BSc in Jamia Millia Government Degree College, Abdul Qadir studying BCom in the Government College of Commerce and Economics and Zohaib Hassan.
