The World Bank is providing a further $30 million for undertaking reforms in the education sector in Sindh, said Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq. He said this on Monday while presiding over a meeting, which was also attended by representatives of the World Bank and the European Union. The education minister pointed out that the World Bank had made available $50 million for the rehabilitation of schools damaged by last year’s floods.
“On basis of satisfactory performance during the past three years, the World Bank is providing another US$30 million for educational sector reforms in Sindh,” said Haq. The government is committed for the betterment of education in accordance with the vision of President Asif Ali Zardari and the manifesto given by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, he added. The World Bank and European Union representatives assured the Education Department of their cooperation for the betterment of education in the province.
