Saudi diplomat killed in Karachi

A junior officer of the Saudi Arabian Consulate in Karachi was gunned down in an ambush in DHA Phase IV on Monday. Hassan Al-Khatani left his house No 82/1 at Khayaban-e-Shahbaz, DHA Phase IV for office.He was intercepted near the Saudi Consulate where four gunmen opened indiscriminate fire on his vehicle. The official received multiple bullets in his upper torso and died on the spot. Clifton Town Police Officer (TPO) Tariq Dharejo told Pakistan Today that the deceased was associated with the security department of the Saudi Consulate.Following the incident, the Foreigner Security Cell (FSC) enhanced security around consulate offices of various countries across the city and around the residences of their staff to prevent more such attacks. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan have claimed responsibility for the attack, saying Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were American slaves.
