The HSSC Part I and II Annual Examinations 2011 of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) began on Monday with a large number of power load shedding complaints received from various centres.
However, BIEK Chairman Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai said in a statement that examinations were conducted in a smooth and orderly manner. He said that in the first phase, the papers of Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, Home Economics and Medical Technology will be conducted in the morning shift at 90 examination centres.
The candidates of Commerce (Regular) will appear in the afternoon shift at 67 centres. The total number of candidates to appear in the first phase is 149,700. A ‘super vigilance team’ has been formed to monitor the examination process. It includes the BIEK chairman, colleges director general, Karachi colleges regional director and Karachi EDO education and senior professors. According to the BIEK statement, 11 candidates were caught cheating in the exams.
