‘Hirakh’ launched

Punjabi Adab Society in collaboration with Gulshan-e-Adab organized book-launching ceremony of ‘Hirakh’ by Rai Muhammed Khan Nasir at Choupaal Nasir Bagh.
Sanawar Chaddhar highlighted the historical significance of Nankana Sahib and Guru Nanak and appreciated Nasir, who belongs to Nankana as well. Zahid Hussain Chaddhar said that the book was a beautiful blend of the Sufi thought and local colors. He said that the book was a unique addition to Punjabi literature. Dr Ibad Nabeel said that the book deserved the award given by Masood Khaddar Posh and pointed out flaws of judgment in the award giving. He appreciated the ghazals as a blend of novel expression of old fashioned thoughts. “The author is more concerned with the miseries and sufferings of poverty and rural issues,” he said.
Umair Ali Wasif said that the book had a local colour, while Sultan, a renowned Pujabi poet, Wajid and Sadiq Jameel shared their views on the book.
Ashiq Raheel, editor of a Punjabi magazine ‘Lehran’, said that the work was a good addition to the Punjabi literature. “The author has done justice with his culture and work. A lot more is needed to be done for the promotion of Punjabi language,” he said.
Chaudhry Anwar Zahid gave his remarks being the president of the ceremony. It was followed by recitation of some verses from the book, which was appreciated and the audience stayed on despite a power breakdown.
