Watchman found dead in clinic

Nadir, 55, a resident of Jhang, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a private clinic in the Shadman police precincts on Sunday. Police said the deceased was a watchman at Dr Bashir’s clinic at 19-Shadman and he used to live in the clinic. On Sunday morning, another employee unlocked the clinic and found Nadir’s body.
Police officials said the cause of death was yet to be ascertained but the deceased’s body showed torture marks. Police registered a case against unidentified men on complaint of Nadir’s father, Gulzar Hussain under section-302 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Police are investigating the incident as a robbery-cum-murder case.
TRAFFIC ACCIDENT: Shumail, 25, and sister Kiran, 22, both residents of Saidan Shah were crushed to death while their minor sister Rimsha, 8 sustained injuries in a traffic accident near Gymkhana Club on The Mall in the Racecourse Police precincts on Sunday. The deceased were returning from a marriage on a motorbike when a speeding car hit them. They sustained multiple head injuries from the accident. The car driver fled from the scene.
A passerby informed Rescue 1122 which rushed the victims to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced Kiran and Shamail dead. Rimsha’s condition was said to be out of danger. No case was registered till the filing of this report. In another incident, Muddassar, 16, a resident of Shadab Colony Chung was knocked down by a 16-wheeler while crossing the road near Chung Training Center on Sunday.
The driver fled from the scene. Police registered a case on the complaint of victim’s uncle Zulfiqar Ali under section-524 of PPC.
BURNT TO ASHES: A fire erupted at a paper warehouse, owned by Riaz, due to a short circuit and reduced valuables worth thousands of rupees to ashes near Maqbara Mor in the Shadara Town Police precincts on Sunday.
ILLEGAL POSSESSION: Multan Road residents on Sunday alleged that the government illegally took possession of their land and refused to compensate them on accordance with market prices.
Addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club, Muhammad Yasin, Jameela Bibi, Haji M Afzal and Yasin Khan demanded that the Punjab chief minister compensate them according to the market price. They threatened that they would protest in front of Chief Minister (CM)’s Secretariat as well as the CM’s House if the government failed to fulfill their demands.
The residents alleged that the government officials had demolished their houses to widen the Multan road and added that the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) had promised to compensate for the price of their land but they had refused to do so now after demolishing their houses. They said further that officials of LDA and PMU had been threatening them of dire consequences if they contacted media.
The Multan Road residents also appealed Lahore High Court chief justice for justice and demanded immediate compensation for their land.
ONE-WHEELERS BUSTED: Gulberg Police arrested eight one-wheelers including Ahsan, Suhail, Malik Zubair, Habib, Zeeshan, Umar Usman and Waqas on Sunday and jailed them after registering cases against them.
