The police force has the responsibility to maintain peace and security while also to detect and prevent crime. There has been an additional responsibility now assigned to the police personnel and that is the VIP security. It is understandable that with the prevalent security situation within the country, the security of officials is also necessary but it should not be at the expense of the public. It is important that the police should recruit additional force to cater to the VIP security details. The citizens should not suffer due to the allocation of police resources towards the security of VIPs.
