Power crisis denting economy

Pakistan is currently faced with severe electricity crisis and resolution of the power problem is a serious challenge for the government. Electricity is an essential part of daily life and sustained outages have severely dented the economy. In addition, it has caused trouble to the lives of the common man. Thousands have been unemployed, while businesses have shut down. Daily life has become a misery. According to an estimate, around 67 percent of Pakistan’s population is living in darkness. This figure, in this modern age, undoubtedly depicts a bleak picture of the government’s performance. The current power crises have not only put small scale businesses to harm, but manufacturing sector and other large scale businesses have also suffered as a consequence of electricity outages. The long electricity interruptions have become unbearable in the scorching heat. People are suffering from depression and anguish, which has decreased their efficiency level. Electricity has become extremely important in this age where majority of the work is done on computers. It has become extremely hard for people to perform daily routine tasks.
