Young Ali Nadim hit an unbeaten 106 to steer Classic Club to 21-run victory over Diamond Club in the final of the ICA Knockout Cricket Championship at Diamond Ground on Monday.
In a highly-charged encounter, Classic’s young guns rose to the occasion with marvelous display of cricket in all forms with Ali Nadim emerging as an outstanding performer with a blistering 91-ball 106 with five fours and four sixes. Opener Nouman Masud Butt also played well with his gutsy 86 with 12 fours and one six.
Classic Club won by fine bowling from left-arm spinner Abdul Majid who claimed 3-43. Off-spinner Mohammad Hammad Ahmed also claimed 3 for 51.
Left-handed one-down batsman Sajid Ali put up some resistance with 59 along with Ali Sarfraz, who also hit 59. Diamond failed to chase the target.
Diamond’s speedster Shahzad Azam Rana had a six wicket haul for 61 but he failed to stop the run spree of Classic Club.
