At least seven people, including a cousin of former Bank of Punjab president Hameesh Khan, were booked on the charge of snatching Rs 3.712 million from one Sabir Ali of village Attlay Ghulam near Sukheki.
According to details, Sabir Ali of WAPDA Town Gujranwala contacted Salamat Ali, a property dealer, for the purchase of agricultural land. He sent Sabir Ali to Jabbar Ali in village Kot Miran to settle the transaction. Jabbar Khan, a cousin of former Bank of Punjab president Hamesh Khan.
Jabbar, took Sabir Ali to village Attlay Ghulam and introduced him to Mumtaz Ali, Rab Nawaz, Nasrullah, Najum-ul-Hassan and two unknown persons. They showed 95 acres of land and and finalized the terms and conditions of the transaction. On the set date, as Sabir Ali went to them with the token money of Rs 3.712 million, the accusd snatched the money from him and pushed him out of the village. Sukheki police registered a case against the accused under sections 420, 468, 471 and 382 of PPC on the application of Sabir Ali.
TWO KILLED, 24 INJURED IN TWO INCIDENTS: A girl was killed and four were injured as the roof of a house collapsed while a man was killed and 20 sustained injuries in a road accident. In the first incident which occurred at village Pindi Bawray, the roof of a house collapsed as a result of which Khadim Hussain and family members, Farwa, Shahnaz, Nazim, Qasim and Afzal, were seriously injured. Rescue 1122 reached the spot and rushed the injured to hospital where a girl, Farwa, died.
In the second incident, a van was coming to Hafizabad from Sheikhupura when it collided with a car at Madina Chowk. As a result Riaz-ul-Hassan, Bank of Punjab Nankana Sahib branch manager, was killed on the spot and 20 passengers, including Asad Ali, Fariha, Faizan, Sughran Bibi, Saira Bibi, Khalil, Muhammad Abbas and Ameer Ali, were injured. Rescue 1122 Hafizabad reached the scene and rushed all the injured to the district headquarters hospital.
DACOIT INJURED, CAUGHT BY VILLAGERS: A dacoit was injured and caught by villagers during a robbery bid in village Thatta Prothian in the Sukheki police station precincts. Reportedly, four dacoits stormed into the house of Mahboob Ali, a resident of village Thatta Prothian, after midnight. Mehboob Ali and the other family members caught one of the dacoits, Shaukat Ali. As his three accomplices opened fire to get him released, the villagers retaliated and forced the outlaws to flee. On receiving information about the incident, Sub Inspector Iqbal Niazi reached the scene and shifted the injured robber to the hospital.
