Napoleon Qayyum, leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s minority wing, has expressed dismay at the Lahore High Court’s verdict in President Zardari dual office case. In a press statement issued here on Saturday, Qayyum said, “Despite the fact that the PPP has great for the judiciary, the party has never expected that an independent judiciary would give its ruling against the leading democratic force in the country”. He recalled that the judiciary, in the past, had allowed General (retd) Musharraf to be the president and the head of the armed forces at the same time. “Even before Musharraf, Gen. Zia-ul-Haq and Gen. Ayub, too, had enjoyed two slots simultaneously”, he added.
