Nawaz Sharif set to arrive on Monday

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief and former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif is set to arrive in Karachi on May 16 in an attempt to reorganise his party and gain some footing in Sindh, Pakistan Today has learnt.
“Nawaz Sharif will arrive on Monday, and he may announce the party’s division and district-level bodies in Sindh,” PML-N Ladies Wing leader Sorath Thebo told Pakistan Today.
Sharif is likely to stay in Sindh for four days. His visit takes on greater significance in the current situation, with rumours of political upheaval doing the rounds. Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa have been on edge about various issues, and Sharif wants to assess the situation better. Sharif will meet people from all walks of life and critically, leaders of different nationalist parties and disillusioned office-bearers and workers of the PPP.
Before Sharif’s visit to Sindh, a high-level delegation comprising of the party’s central leaders Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa, Iqbal Zaffar Jhagra and others, arrived in Karachi last month. Although the delegation had arrived to clarify Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif’s statement on carving a new province out of Karachi, party workers had strongly demanded that the leadership pay due attention to them as well.
The workers had specially complained of the absence of any party structure in Sindh, arguing that many were facing difficulties to act on any issue because of little direction. The delegation went back with the promise that Sharif will visit Sindh soon after he returns to the country. Party leaders are also confident that his visit will repair the dents in the party’s organisation, and will also be part of the PML-N’s ‘contact campaign’ in Sindh.
