Lawyers offer Osama’s funeral in absentia

The lawyers offered the funeral in absentia for Osama Bin Laden on Friday. Bin Laden died during a US raid in Abbotabad on May 2. The funeral prayers were offered on the premises of the Lahore High Court Bar Association. Members of Khatam-e-Nabovat Lawyers Forum and Al-Uma Lawyers Forum were present on the occasion.
Muhammad Yahya Johar of Khatam-e-Nabovat Lawyers Forum led the funeral prayers of bin Laden in absentia. The prominent participants included former judges Hafiz Abdur Rehman Ansari, Mian Shahid Iqbal, Punjab Bar Council members Chaudhry Zulfiqar and Latif Sara, senior lawyers AK Dogar, Rai Nawaz Kharral and others. They also addressed the participants and demanded to declare Osama ‘Shaheed-e-Umat’, saying he lost his life fighting a holy ‘Jihad’.
They were of the view that if bin Laden was a terrorist, then the authorities should have tried him in a court of law.
