WWF Pakistan will be presenting the 2011 Syed Asad Ali Conservation Awards and the Living Planet Awards. The awards will be a dedication to those who are committed to the environment and nature. The Syed Asad Ali Award for Nature Conservation was launched in 2000 to pay tribute to and commemorate eminent conservationist Syed Asad Ali.
The award is aimed at recognising the achievements of conservationists. Each year, the award recognises a selected individual who has made an exceptional contribution to nature conservation in Pakistan. The Living Planet Award is a symbol of recognition; especially presented to those who have made outstanding contributions to the field of nature conservation.
They have proved to be the forerunners of certain environmental themes that their Small Grants Programme Projects addressed; taking the first step in protecting our natural capital. This award has drawn its inspiration from WWF’s panda logo that upholds its motto ‘for a living planet’.
WWF-Pakistan’s Small Grants Programme provides financial, technical and scientific assistance to organisations and individuals that undertake various conservation projects.
