The only municipal library in Daska is facing a lot of problems while no solution to them is in sight so far. At least 40-year-old library’s new building was built in 2004 that was demolished six months ago when the district administration declared the building an encroachment and issued final notice to vacate it instantly. The library then was shifted to a single ancient room on the College Road by placing all 3,000 books packed in bags there.
These were rare old books and newspapers which were being damaged there. The sanitary staff of a water pump had already kept its luggage in that room and now there was no space for the library staff and readers to sit and read there. The TMA officials said the library was shifted to this place in hurry after the final notice given to the library management for vacating the building. At the moment, 1.1 million population of Daska tehsil is deprived of library facilities while the TMA officials have said that they have no alternative place for the library.
