Army won the 4th National Junior Cycling Championship with 232 points and Zahid Iqbal of Punjab retained the individual title as the event concluded here at the Cycling Velodrome on Thursday. On the final day of the championship, three events were competed. 50 KM road race, sprint and team sprint and elimination race.
Army won the team title and was followed by Punjab with 154 points while Railways got third place with 86 points. Punjab Education Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman was the chief guest at the closing and distributed prizes, medals, shields and trophies among the winners. In team sprint, Army secured gold medal. Army’s Nadeem Hussain won two gold medals in 50 km road scratch race and 1000 metre sprint to earn his department thumping win while Punjab’s Zahid Iqbal clinched the elimination race to become the champion.
