There is no room for corrupt officers in the Police Department and strict action is being taken against anti social elements to make the district crime free. afizbad district police officer (DPO) said this while talking to journalists at his office. He added that the department would be cleared from the black sheep who were defaming it and added that police officers would not refrain from giving any sacrifice to eliminate criminal elements from the society.
He further said the police had launched a drive against drug peddlers and arrested 74 accused and recovered almost six kilograms of heroin from them. He said the city police had also unearthed 10 brothels running in the city and arrested 11 gamblers and added that two police stations Hafizabad Sadar and Jalalpur Bhattian have been declared model police stations where all latest facilities had been provided for investigating the cases on scientific methods.
LADY TEACHERS RALLY FOR GETTING SALARIES: Lady teachers at the National Education Foundation took out a rally as they were not given salaries for nine months. The rally which was led by Assistant Director Irfan Yaseen started from Fawara Chowk and ended at the press club. The lady teachers demonstrated against the closing of their schools and said that they were compelled to starve after losing their jobs.
‘NUTRITION SUPERVISORS CAN MAKE PHCP A SUCCESS’: Health and Nutrition supervisors can play a vital role for making the Primary Health Care Programme successful by creating awareness among the students about their physical health and cleanliness. Hafizabad District Coordination Officer Muhammad Asif said this while addressing a meeting of Health and Nutrition supervisors held at district complex the other day. District Officer Abdul Slam Arif, Health Executive District Officer Dr Asif Qadar Meer and other officers attended the meeting.
The DCO said the social changes were creating awareness among students and teachers about heath and cleanliness and added that major cause of failure to achieve the required results was negligence of the staff and negative behavior of the society. He said the district government would monitor the nutrition supervisors’ performance across the district and stern action would be initiated against the negligent officials.
30,000 children enrolled in schools: Over 30,000 children have been enrolled in the schools under the universal enrolment drive. This was revealed by Executive District Officer Educatio Sohail Azhar Khan while addressing a meeting. He vowed that the target to enroll 39,000 children would be achieved till May 31. Meanwhile, he has suspended a watchman of Government Girls Elementary School Karyala, Taj Din, and issued a warning to Rubina Kausar, PST of the school. He directed the staff of the schools in the district to improve cleanliness, failing which strict action would be taken against them as well as the respective head teachers.
APCA OBSERVES STRIKE: On the call of all Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA), the government employees of all the offices observed a complete strike in favour of the charter of demands presented by the association. They demanded impugnation of pay and pension committee recommendations.
