Former Pakistan captain and chief selector Aamer Sohail has pointed out that the Pakistan Cricket Board should now prepare the team for the next World Cup instead of relying on tried and tested old stalwarts. Talking to journalists, Sohail said that the PCB’s focus should be on the 2015 World Cup and the team compositions should also be formulated keeping in mind the big event.
“I believe that the players who should play till the next World Cup should be part of the team instead of those whose cricket is over,” said Sohail on Shahid Afridi’s captaincy. On coaching, Sohial further stated that a good cricketer cannot be necessarily a good coach.
“A coach has to transfer the knowledge of cricket he has played all of his life and that can only be done after he has gone through theoretical lessons. Coaching has now become a science,” he added.
He also criticised the PCB and the team management for letting the controversies brew.
