Park in Clifton named after late Moin Akhtar inaugurated

A city government park in Clifton – named after famous artist Moin Akhtar – was inaugurated by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad on Wednesday. “More monuments and projects will be named after Moin Akhtar who was a great artiste and asset for his country,” he told the media on the occasion.
Provincial Local Government Minister Agha Siraj Durrani, City Administrator Fazlur Rehman, City DCO Muhammad Hussain Syed, Parks Director General Liaquat Ali Khan, Anwer Maqsood, Fatima Surayya Bajia, Qaser Nizamani, Faisal Qureishi, Umer Sharif, Talat Hussain, Behroz Subzwari, Sajid Hussain and others were also present on the occasion. “The establishment of such an institution is being considered that would work specifically for artistes.
The artiste community would themselves forward suggestions in this regard and the government would act on them,” the governor said. He said that the Legend Trust is providing help to artists on a permanent basis and its trustees were selected from the corporate sector. Provincial Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Khan Durrani also paid tributes to Moin Akhtar. “Naming a park after such a big artiste is not a huge thing, but it is only the beginning,” he said. On the occasion, Anwer Maqsood thanked the governor and the local government minister.
