The number of the mothers are dying during deliveries is increasing owing to the shortage of skilled doctors and paramedics in remote areas, observed speakers at a seminar held in connection with International Mothers’ Day at Daska Media Chamber Model Town. Civil Hospital Medical Specialist Dr Farah Kamran who was the chief guest on the occasion paid tribute to mothers and said they enjoyed a great importance and respect in the Islamic society. She further said under-age marriages should be avoided and added legislation was being made in this regard. Farah added there was a dire need to save mothers through technology because there were socio-economic problems behind maternal mortality.
She further said doctors should be trained about delivery cases and added 280 women were dying during the delivery process every day in Pakistan.
