The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)’s emergency response centre was inaugurated by the national carrier’s Managing Director Nadeem Khan Yousufzai on Tuesday. According to a press release, the PIA pays its utmost attention towards passenger care and takes every step to make its operation safe and sound and considering the eventualities arising from weather disruptions and other factors, it has established a state-of-the-art facility to manage the exigencies in a coordinated and organised manner.
The emergency response centre is first of its sort not only in Pakistan but in the SAARC region as well. Describing the main features of the centre at the inauguration ceremony, Safety and Quality Assurance Chief Pilot Capt S. Adnan Haris said that the centre has work stations with complete IT support for different departments. The managing director expressed his satisfaction over the emergency preparedness level of the airline and offered its services to other local and international carriers operating in the country.
He invited other national institutions to benefit from the centre while handling emergencies in their organisations. The ceremony was also attended by PIA Deputy Managing Director Salim Sayani, HRA & C Director Shahnawaz Rehman, Flight Operations Director Captain Ilyas Malik, Information Technology Director Irshad Ghani and other senior officials of the airline.
