The Supreme Court (SC) was told on Tuesday that the federal and Punjab government had decided to make public the investigation report of Justice (r) Shafiur Rehman on the murder case against former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
Appearing on notice, Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq and Punjab Advocate General Khawaja Haris Ahmed told the court that the investigation report of Justice Rehman would soon be made public. The court observed that the record pertaining to the original file containing the first information report and supplementary notes of the investigation officer submitted to the court on Monday was not readable, and told the attorney general to make the record readable within three days and submit it to the registrar office.
Resuming his arguments on the point of biasness of LHC in Bhutto case, federation’s counsel Dr Babar Awan, contended that under the law, in criminal cases, first preference was given to the private complaint, whereas in Bhutto’s case that was not done. He said Bhutto had filed an application challenging the unfairness of the trial but the LHC had decided to conduct a hearing on that application after the trial.
During the hearing, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja observed that there were some points in Bhutto’s case that show that injustice had been done.
