Exporters lauded on breaking $20b barrier

Federal Minister for Commerce, Makhdoom Amin Fahim congratulated Pakistani traders and exporters on achieving the historic export target of $20 billion during the first 10 months of the current financial year. In a statement issued here, the minister said the success has become possible due to the dedication of the Ministry of Commerce and pro-trade policies of the present government. “We are committed to remove all the bottlenecks in the way to smooth trade,” the minister said, adding the ministry would be addressing all issues faced by traders and exporters to facilitate them with all necessary means for the promotion of exports. He stressed that he has directed the ministry to explore new markets besides finding ways for boosting demand for Pakistani products in the world market. The minister expressed hope that by finding substitution for imports and exploring new markets, the trade deficit would shrink further in time to come.
