A 3-day international conference on literature and culture will kick off in Alhamra on Saturday 14 May under the banner of the Lahore Arts Council. In the inaugural session, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will announce life time achievement awards for outstanding work in fields of literature, paintings, music and drama.
The event shall comprise sessions on ‘Classical aspects of Urdu poetry (Meer, Ghalib and Iqbal)’, ‘Urdu poetry; From Classics to Moderns’ and ‘New dimensions of Pakistani paintings’. The first day shall be markets with an International Mushaira. Reknowned Urdu poets shall recite their verses.
On second day of the event, academics shall present their research on the topics “100 years of Urdu novel”, “Urdu poetry from classics to modern”, “The future of Ghazal singing in Pakistan”, “New dimensions of painting in Pakistan” and “Ups and downs of drama”. The day will conclude with Ashiq Jutt theatre performing the drama ‘Dulla Bhatti’.
