The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is not in favour of resuming cricketing ties with Pakistan in near future in view of the security situations in Pakistan especially after the death of Osama bin Laden. Reports coming from across the border state that the BCCI was not in favour of the Pakistan series as the security situation in Pakistan is far from normal.
Earlier, as a follow up to the talks between PM Manmohan Singh and his counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani during the ODI World Cup, India had decided to resume bilateral cricket ties with Pakistan. Before the World Cup semi-final match at Mohali on March 30, India last played against Pakistan an Asia Cup match in June 2010 at Dambula in Sri Lanka. The last bilateral series was in 2007-2008 when the Pakistani team visited India.
No international cricket team has visited Pakistan to play any matches after the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team on March 3, 2009, when six members of the visiting team were injured. An official of the PCB said that initially there was no window to go ahead with the series and talks will be initiated for the series in the coming months to meet the modalities of the possible series.
