Additional District and Sessions Judge Ghulam Murtaza awarded death sentence to a murderer, Akram and life imprisonment to his accomplice, Riaz. Reportedly, both of them had murdered a youth Umer Hayat, a resident of Gujjar Basti, last year over a minor dispute. The court also ordered both of them to pay Rs 100,000 each to the heirs of the deceased as compensation.
LAWYERS OBSERVE STRIKE: The district bar association members observed a complete strike on Tuesday against the US operation in Abbottabad and the killing of Osma bin Laden. They chanted slogans against the Pakistan government and America. District Bar Association Present Mian Farrukh Iqbal addressed the protesting lawyers. The general body meeting of the bar also passed a resolution against the operation.
