Lahore High Court Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed on Tuesday issued notice to the federal government and WAPDA chairman on a petition seeking directions for the federal government to disclose all under-construction projects aimed at managing the power crisis and inform the court of the dates when the ongoing power projects would start power production.
Advocate Rana Ilamudin Ghazi filed the petition questioning the failure of government functionaries to overcome the power crisis and their claims of ending the outages soon. The petitioner also prayed that details of all international agreement on power production be submitted before the court especially agreements with China. He claimed that China had offered to supply domestic and commercial electricity connections to Pakistan at Rs 500 and Rs3000 per month respectively.
He pleaded that the government be directed to explain why the offer had not been accepted and whether an agreement with China existed in that regard.
