An art exhibition on the theme of appropriation is opening on Wednesday, 11th May 2011 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Royaat Gallery, Kashmir Road Lahore. Curated by Quddus Mirza, the exhibition is based upon works which have been created in reference to already existing art works.
These works are examples of appropriation, assimilation and critique on other artists’ practices. Works, in different mediums and techniques, such as oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas and digital print, are displayed, which reflect interesting and intelligent take on previous art pieces.
The exhibition presents modern and contemporary artists including Ayaz Jokhi, Ahmed Ali Manganhar, Imran Channa, Ambar Hammad, Rukhe Nilofer, Naqsh Raj, Scheherzad Junejo and others. The exhibition will remain open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm each day till 18th May 2011 at Royaat Gallery, 2 Kashmir Road, Lahore.
