Federal Minister for Sports Engineer Shaukat Ullah Khan said on Sunday that sports ties with Afghanistan would be enhanced and strengthened. He said this on arrival to Islamabad after an official visit to Afghanistan. “Cooperation will be deepened in the areas of the sports between the two countries which will help channel the energies of the youth in productive ways,” he said.
While giving reference of his meeting with Afghanistan Cricket Board Chairman, the Minister mentioned that Pakistan would extend all possible assistance to Afghanistan for the promotion of cricket and he would talk with the concerned authorities to help out Afghanistan in this regard.
While shedding lights on his visit to Afghanistan, the Minister said that he met the Afghan sports authorities including Maj Gen Zahir Aghbar, President Afghan Olympic Committee, and told him that Pakistan was keen to assist Afghanistan in various ways including training of coaches, development of sports facilities and exchange of teams and delegations in a wide variety of sports.
In order to open new windows of cooperation in the field of sports and to discuss practical ways of strengthening sports between the two countries, Maj Gen Zahir Aghbar, President Afghan Olympic Committee would visit Pakistan along with delegation very soon. Afghan Olympic chief appreciated Pakistan’s contribution for growth of sports in Afghanistan.
