Differences have arisen in the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) over appointments in the Sindh government, Pakistan Today has learnt. A decision was made to include Sherazi of Thatta and PML-Q Sindh General Secretary Haleem Adil Shaikh in the provincial cabinet but a rift developed between the Maher and Sherazi groups over the coveted slots, sources said, adding that Ghous Bux Maher wanted a provincial ministry for his son Shahryar Maher while Sherazi wanted the ministry to go to the Malkanis because the Sherazis are more in numbers compared to the Mahers.
The PPP-led Sindh government has offered one ministry and two advisory positions to the PML-Q and the latter was yet to decide the advisors when the rift appeared over the ministry. Once decided, all three officials will be sworn in after May 10. Another group led by MPA Mir Ghalib Khan Domki from Jacobabad has expressed its annoyance at not being accommodated in the provincial cabinet. The group had distanced itself from the PML-Q and was hoping that the PPP would reward it with a cabinet position.
