The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) has recently impounded a plane of Shaheen Air at the Dubai Airport, sources informed Pakistan Today. The aircraft No AP BHB was detained by the DCAA when they found shortcomings in the cabin following the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA)’s inspection, the sources said.
The plane did not have emergency oxygen breathing equipment for passengers in its cabin, they added. A flight is not supposed to take off until it does not have all the necessary equipment meant for the safety of passengers. If a plane flies at a height of 35,000 feet with the oxygen system failure, all passengers would die in one minute’s time, the sources said. The plane is still at the airport and it would be released after the authority levels a penalty or bans the plane.
When contacted, Shaheen Air official spokesperson Faruq Nasir Khan said they have managed to send the required equipment through another scheduled flight to Dubai and now the detained plane has been rectified. “This sort of inspection is a routine matter,” he said. It is pertinent to mention that the cabin inspection also assures that all required paperwork is available including airworthiness certificate, registration certificate, operating handbook, weight and balance data, etc.
