SKAA chief wants lands identified for Sasti Basti projects

The director general of the Sindh Katchi Abadis Authority (SKAA), Mohammad Yasin Shar directed the field directors of his department on Saturday to take necessary steps to identify the lands for Sasti Basti projects, dispose of all pending issues without further delay, accelerate the regularisation process of katchi abadis and enhance revenue receipts.
The new director general was presiding over an introductory meeting of the authority’s officers to review the SKAA performance, progress of lease recovery and revenuetargets and discuss the budget proposal for the year 2011-12 and pending issues pertaining to legal and audit matters.
The meeting was attended among others by Director Finance Imtiaz Ali Memon, Director (H.R&C) Jawaid Khan, field directors Imdad Ali Lashari, Sukkur Muhib Ali Bajkani, Mirpurkahs Allah Bachayo Gabol, Rustam Lashari and Deputy Director (Admn) Shaharyar Afridi.
The field directors presented detailed briefings about their respect regions including development schemes, provision of infrastructure, Sasti Basti projects, lease, recovery and matter pertaining to legal and revenue issues.
The director general urged the officers to device a mechanism to strengthen the authority. He told them to gear up their efforts to enhance their professional skills and capabilities for the benefit of authority as well as the general public.
“There is a lot of potential but it should be explored properly and utilised in a better way,” he said.
“The field officers should come forward and mobilise their subordinate field staff to enlist new slums in their respective jurisdictions.”
He assured the officers that their genuine problems would be solved, but they need to perform their duties honestly and efficiently.
He warned that employees who do not attend offices would be dealt with strictly, but also said that hardworking officials would be rewarded.
He underlined the need for speedy work on development schemes and asked the officers to come up with a monitoring system to stop encroachments within katchi abadis.
