The Pakistan Medical Association has condemned the violent behaviour of the people accompanying the gambling den blast injured at the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) on Friday night.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Dr Samrina Hashmi, a PMA Sindh representative, said that the attack on doctors and paramedics attending to the people injured in blast reflects the poor security arrangements at the hospital.
She said that such attacks by unscrupulous and charged elements have happened on previous occasions too.
The doctor said while the administration of CHK had attempted to tighten security arrangements during the past few months, there appears to be a lapse resulting in injuries to the hospital staff.
On the behalf of the PMA, she demanded that the culprits targeting the medical community must be arrested and punished.
The PMA representative demanded foolproof security arrangements for doctors, nurses and paramedics at all hospitals in the city.
