MQM concerned over ‘conspiracy to spark sectarian violence’

The Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Rabita Committee has expressed concern over what it says is a conspiracy to spark sectarian violence in Pakistan, particularly Karachi.
The committee said that elements striving to promote sectarian hatred were the enemies of Karachi and its peace.
The committee said that sectarian violence in Sindh has come to an end due to the untiring efforts of the MQM founder and leader Altaf Hussain.
The committee regretted that certain elements, which do not like the atmosphere of unity and brotherhood, are conspiring to incite sectarian violence in the city by fanning religious sentiments.
“People, who want to divide the people along sectarian lines for their contemptible objectives and destroying the peace of Karachi, cannot have any sympathy for Islam and humanity,” the committee said.
The MQM body appealed to the people belonging to various religious schools of thought to remain vigilant of “the abominable conspiracy to incite sectarian strife in Karachi” and asked them to be watchful and foil every attempt to destroy peace and tranquility of the city.
The committee also stressed upon all the religious scholars to promote religious harmony in their lectures and religious gatherings. “Religious scholars should play an effective role to defeat the conspiracy by preaching unity and brotherhood,” it said.
