The government is utilising every resource at its disposal for poverty alleviation, empowerment of women and protecting the rights of children, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Saturday.
He was talking to a delegation of Human Rights Protection International led by Naveed Ahmed Advocate.
The minister pointed out that agricultural land has been distributed free among peasants, poverty alleviation programmes have been introduced at the union council level and Benazir Shaheed Women Support Programme and Benazir Behan Basti have been started for eliminating poverty.
“These programmes have started yielding positive results,” he said.
Memon said that the First Women’s Bank and women police stations were also started during the tenure of Benazir Bhutto.
