I would like to bring attention to the fact that the government is constantly increasing petrol prices and as a result of that, buses’ owners have started increasing their fares. Only the lower middle classes and lower classes use public transport and thus, this measure is very regressive. Furthermore, students are also increasingly burdened by this.
Some of the owners of buses have increased their fares despite the fact that their buses run on CNG, not petrol. This is a great injustice with the public who are compelled to pay a large amount for traveling.
I would appeal to the government to please ensure governmental transport to give the public a subsidy in the shape of low fares so that people can save their money. This is not a waste of money as this is a targeted subsidy which will help impoverished classes and not enrich the already rich. The government needs to provide some relief to the already embattled public.
