Senior journalists honoured

The Council of National Affairs held a reception in honour of Urdu Digest Editor Altaf Hassan Qureshi and Wafaq Editor Mustafa Sadiq on Friday. Both noted journalists had been awarded lifetime achievement awards by the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) in March 2011. Pakistan Today Editor Arif Nizami and Daily Pakistan Chief Editor Mujeebur Rrehman Shami were the chief guests in the ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Iqbal.
CNA President Ghulam Mustafa Meerani, columnist Rauf Tahir, Professor Khalid Humayun, Sajjad Mir and Dr Mugheesud Din Sheikh also spoke on the occasion.
Pakistan Today Editor and Aiwan-e-Iqbal Chairman Arif Nizami paid rich tribute to services of both dignitaries in journalism. He said they had had a deep impact on journalist and their career had been impeccable.
Nizami said both veterans always chose less rhetoric and more analysis in their writing.. Daily Pakistan Chief Editor Mujeebur Rehman said both senior journalists had guided generations and were beacon for journalist of the future as well. He narrated several events of the last 50 years, saying both Qureshi and Sadiq were flag bearers of moral values and ideological identities of the society.
